AUTHOR'S NOTE
Stanger on ST. mark's Place was inspired by a trip to the lowe East Side where I saw these kids cursing out a sixteen year old girl. She just ignored them and croosed the street to the comic book store. That inspired the love story "at the Comic book store'.
For the intro, I wrote the original lyric and not the words you hear on the finished recording. it's only one word different; Wanna go back today. was the origianl poem but when it came time to cut the record, I said wanna go back again.
The clubs mentioned in verse one are actual places in Manhattan. Otto's is Otto's Shrunken Head, a Punk Rock club in the East Village. Arlene's is Arlene's Grocery, a legendary Rock mecca also in the East Village. Delleancey is the Dellancey club located where else but on Dellancey Street on the Lower East Side. Sardi's is a popular hangout for actors and artistes and is located on the West Side. You may remembe it from the Bette Davis film "All About Eve".
